DescriptionThere are in-letters addressed to Messrs Thynne and Thynne on various matters concerning the Sandwell Estate. The letters are made up in bundles, chronological order, the bundles for a year or, less frequently, for six months. The letters are mostly from tenants, local estate offices, and trades men, but there are some letters from the fifth and sixth Earls of Dartmouth. Much the greater part of the correspondence deals with routine estate management, but there are letters dealing with collieries on the estate (at Sandwell and West Bromwich. with Conservative party organisation in South STAFFORDSHIRE, and with financial help given to South Staffordshire churches. Places mentioned include West Bromwich, Smethwick, Wednesbury and Handsworth. Some letters of interest have been briefly noted in the following list of bundles
