TitleRichard Oswald to [Lord Dartmouth]
Date12 Mar 1778
DescriptionOn the subject of Mr Lauren's letter to him, written soon after the former's return to Charlestown in Jan 1775, which he considers deserves some notice, as the writer is now President of Congress, and his letter seems to express a sensible attachment to the interests of this country, notwithstanding his declared intention of taking part in the proposed opposition to the measures of Government, it must be owned appearances are against him since he has himself gone into the worst of the two extremes he condemns, reasons for enclosing the letter [not found], eulogising the conduct of that gentleman with whom he has corresponded for more than 21 years, refers to conversations he had with him in 1773 and 1774, when he went to Carolina in 1774 he left three sons in England at school and soon after sent over his two daughters, they are now living in the country some distance from London
