DescriptionSt Malo, while at Charlestown was not deprived of the benefit of employing his time as Surveyor General to His Majesty, astronomical observations, banishment inflicted upon him for having refused to abjure His Majesty, recounts his having been forced to sea in an American ship the "Hancock and Adams", commanded by Samuel Smith, in company with another American ship the "Lincoln" alias "Marshal", further astronomical observations, his arrival at Nantes, conversation he held with five French politicians, one an associate of Mr Le Sevre, negociants and correspondents with the American Congress, two Bostonian corsairs, Wikes (Wickes) and Nicolson, after having made many prizes, had been chased into this port, preparation of frigates to carry troops to America, interest taken by the French King in the American Revolution
