[General Burgoyne] to the Earl of Rochford, 26 Jul 1775, Boston, private, "I am much afraid it will require a good deal more activity than we have yet shown to prevent famine in the town, if not in the Army, when winter approaches", observations on Gage's inclination to evacuate Boston and its harbour and make himself master of New York for the winter, commends the troops for their zeal and bravery under present hardships
